ABOUT THINSTONE

Thinstone® is a layer of real natural stone.
Stones like slates, limestones, sandstones, marbles etc., are separated into 0.1-2 mm layers by virtue of high technological methods from large rocks. Flourish your projects with 40 different Thinstone® veneers, produced in different quarries around the world, evoking the color and texture of nature.

Light

The weight varies between 1.3- 1.6 kg per square meter. It is easily transported, does not increase the load of the buildings and is easily applied.

Thin

Thinstone®  is peeled from natural stones in layers of 0.1-2 mm. The thin veneer provides ease of surface treatment before and after application.

Flexible

The different backings used in Thinstone®   hold the stone layers together and provide flexibility. It can be bent and coated cylindrical surfaces in one piece.

Sustainable

Smart materials are key elements of a sustainable future. The ease of application provides saving in the whole process from labor to logistics.

Natural stones with appropriate physical properties are separated into 0.1-2 mm layers by virtue of high technological methods from large boulders. The different backings to peel the stone also allows functional differentiation and provides flexibility of stone. Fiberglass backing used for Thinstone Classic, which is widely used for every occasion both interior and exterior applications, extremely robust. Epoxy backing, Thinstone Lucent, is mainly used when light transparency is needed in design. Thinstone Fabric-back  is the thinnest variation, achieved through a textilemesh backing material, providing more flexibility, commonly used in product design.

Thinstone® is light, flexible and super thin. Weight varies between 1.3 and 1.6 kg per square meter. Each layer of Thinstone® gives a different feeling with its rough surfaced texture and color variations. The processings are also user-friendly, can even be cut with carpetknife, scissors!

AREAS OF USE

Natural stones have always been the basis of world culture as building blocks of civilization. With its robustness and durability, the use of natural stone in every field from hand tools to architectural structures, from works of art to jewelry has been used as an essential material in the history of the manmade world and still continues to be.

Ease of use, flexibility and lightness properties of Thinstone® enables use in architectural and product design projects such as furniture, lighting, display units, fashion accessories. It is frequently used on exteriors with its superior properties such as high water absorption resistance and not being affected by icing. In interior design it is used on walls, doors, fireplaces, furniture as well as floor applications when there is low circulation. The extreme use is seen on automobile interior surface design, yatch design and fashion accessories such as jewelry, eyewear, bag design, etc.

Thinstone® can be applied on any kind of flat surface (jacketing, fine plaster, betopan, bordex, drywall, etc.). As shown in the sample image, it is applied as tile application method with recommended polyurethane adhesive. The polyurethane adhesive must be applied to the surface without leaving any bubbles. Marley comb can be used for applying the adhesive on the surface. Thinstone® veneers are placed on the area before the adhesive starts to dry (max 40 min.) The bonding should be made from the middle towards the edges with pressure. The adhesive should not smear to the surface of  Thinstone® plates.

Metal shears and CNC cutting can be used for dimensioning/cutting Thinstone®  plates which are provided in the desired size for your project at the construction site. If necessary water sandpaper is used for corner adjustments.
Polyurethane adhesives overflowing from the grout space is cleaned optionally after it starts to dry (8 – 12 hours) with the help of a utility knife.

This gap between the two Thinstone® plates is filled with flex grout filler material used in ceramic tile applications. The entire surface is washed with clean water using a grout sponge until all the dust is removed after 30 minutes from this process. Thinstone® plates can also be laminated on wood before furniture production.
